Recruitment and staffing always ebbs and flows much like the seasons. It is mostly driven by the employer needs to staff up or hold off. In this current season we are experiencing something quite unusual. The demand on recruitment agencies is increasing as we have seen a significant drop in candidates applying to job ads, so much so that the big job boards have warning messages to job posters about the lack of applications they should expect to receive.
Our head of recruitment, Zoe Carter says “We love this type of challenge; it requires a lot of patience, persistence, and creativity to identify and engage potential candidates that aren’t actively on the market.”
Zoe also talks about how the process is extended because of these shifts in the industry, saying “Edutemps process involves conducting detailed candidate research, only approaching people with relevant profiles, crafting individual messages, sharing market intelligence, and building networks. This puts us in a strong position to feedback current market intel and educate our candidates and clients with crucial information including the demand for certain roles, the current salary expectation of candidates as well as candidate availability.”
The Harvard business review has analysed these recent changes in recruiting and talks about Census data showing, that the majority of people who took a new job last year weren’t on the job hunt, but rather were headhunted directly.
There is a side of the headhunting game that requires a level of patience from clients looking to find the perfect candidate. It’s also important for recruiters to understand that businesses have requirements and a need to find staff within a realistic timeframe. Edutemps have a great track record and understand this entirely, whilst also being able to navigate the current market with this process taking a little longer to find these superstar candidates for the role.
If you are looking to work with us in finding your perfect candidate then let us know and maybe there is something value-adding we can revisit for this role that was overlooked in your initial job briefing?
